Programs Overview

The Tooele County Housing Authority (TCHA) offers affordable housing programs which provide flexible assistance that is not tied to any specific properties. Instead, the subsidy or benefit is attached to the eligible family or individual.
The TCHA programs fall into one or more of the following four categories: Rental Assistance Program, Self Sufficiency Program, Homeownership Program and Homelessness Program. 

Rental Assistance Program

These programs are sometimes called a “voucher” program, or “tenant based rental assistance”. Eligible households that are awarded this type of rental assistance are able to use their voucher on any rental unit of their choice that meets federal requirements for health and safety, and that falls within the allowable rent amount. Section 8 Program

Self Sufficiency Program

These programs are offered in conjunction with a U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) voucher.  They provide additional opportunities and benefits for HUD-assisted families to increase their earned income and reduce dependency or welfare assistance and rental subsidies.
